JOB TITLE: SolidWorks CAD Designer – Small Medical Appliance | Patent Drawing Figures + 3D Renderings
PROJECT OVERVIEW
I am an inventor developing a small, precision medical/dental device for patent filing. I need an experienced CAD designer to build a clean 3D parametric model from the reference geometry I will provide, and produce USPTO-compliant patent drawing figures along with photorealistic renderings in two different material finishes.
NDA REQUIRED: A mutual non-disclosure agreement must be signed before any project details, files, or specifications are shared. Please confirm upfront that you are willing to sign one.
SCOPE OF WORK
- Receive a reference geometry file (STL format) as a starting point
- Build a clean, parametric 3D model in SolidWorks (preferred) or Fusion 360
- Export final master files in STEP format
- Produce USPTO-compliant patent drawing figures: orthographic views (front, side, top, perspective), proper line weights, reference numeral callout-ready
- Produce photorealistic renderings of the appliance in two material finishes: (1) polymer/resin and (2) polished metal
- One round of revisions included
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Experience with medical or dental device CAD modeling
- Demonstrated familiarity with USPTO patent drawing requirements
- Proficiency in SolidWorks; KeyShot or equivalent for rendering
- Experience with additive manufacturing (FDM/resin 3D printing and/or metal AM/DMLS) is a strong plus
- Portfolio samples of medical/dental product work and/or patent figures required — generic portfolios without relevant samples will not be considered

PROJECT TYPE
Fixed price — please include your quote with your proposal. Budget range: $800–$1,500. Payment will be structured in two milestones: 50% upon delivery of approved CAD model and patent figures, 50% upon delivery of final renderings and STEP file.
