- Design a simplified assistance module that can:
- Open snap-fit back cover (prying tool)
- Unscrew mainboard (screwdriver tool)
- Separate screen assembly (separation tool)
- Include a clean phone model (screen, board, battery, back cover)
This will make it much easier for SolidWorks + Simscape simulation and still meet your thesis goals.
Work Plan & Milestones
- Phase 1 – Review & Concept
- Review your files + current design
- Simplify architecture
- Define disassembly sequence
Output: Concept layout + agreed approach
- Phase 2 – CAD Design
- Phone redesign (DfD structure)
- Fixture design
- End effector tools (pry, screw, separation)
- Simple motion system
Output: Complete SolidWorks assembly
- Phase 3 – Motion Study
- Tool paths (pry, unscrew, separate)
- Collision & movement validation
Output: Working motion study
- Phase 4 – Simscape Support
- Export support to MATLAB
- Basic multibody setup
- Help with forces/torque inputs
Output: Simulation-ready model + guidance
- The final output will include
- Full SolidWorks design (assembly + tools)
- Motion study
- Simscape setup support
- Guidance on how to run and explain the simulation
