TISTA Science and Technology is seeking a Sr. Software Quality Assurance Engineer & Tester to join our growing team.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a high-performing team of technical and business experts on a Federal project to support functional testing efforts throughout the entire solution testing life-cycle.

- Responsibilities
- Manage project deadlines, as well as your time and schedule in a fast-paced federal environment
- Work directly with the business analysts and developers to translate functional requirements into executable test cases
- Review and generate complex test plans, generate test case data, build procedures and testing scripts based upon functional specifications
- Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
- Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
- Execute test cases, logs, validate defects
- Identify, record, document and track bugs
- Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
- Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs
- Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
- Perform 508 functional testing on applications/systems utilizing various 508 compliance tools such as JAWS, ZoomText and Dragon Naturally Speaking
- Must be able to work well within a team environment and have exceptional collaboration skills with all levels of business and technical staff
- Interact with Federal and contractor functional leads to clarify requirements and scenarios
- Define and refine functional testing approaches, tools, and documentation
- Create, update and maintain application/system, integration and regression test cases
- Perform full cycles of sprint, regression, and integration testing
- Generate test summary reports after each testing cycle to show testing progress, actual testing results, and pass/fail status
- Serve as a functional testing subject matter expert to assist other test engineers as needed
- Participate in regular project status meetings, track and communicate testing progress, issues and risks
- Assist the Federal and contractor resources to conduct User Acceptance Testing
- Respond to developers' questions regarding test results, bugs and defects
- Communicate frequently with customers and team members, facilitating discussions and exercising professional judgment as required
- Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies
- Mentor junior testing personnel as required
- Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in testing software applications
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process and SDLC work environments
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio)
- Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
- Experience with 508 functional testing
- Experience with defect tracking/requirements management tool, desired technologies include: IBM Rational Suite, (ClearQuest, Requirements Pro, Functional Test)
- Experience in all phases of software testing including test planning, functional testing, and regression testing
- Proven work experience in software quality assurance
- Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
- Functional knowledge of SQL and scripting
- Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus
- Current active IRS Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) clearance a plus
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related scientific /technical discipline and 5+ years’ experience
- Clearance:
- Must be US Citizen or US Lawful Permanent Resident
- Must be Federal Tax Compliant
- The ability to pass a Tier 2/Modest Background Investigation (Current IRS clearance preferred)

- Salary Information:
- The pay for this position ranges from $77,000 to $83,500
- The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
