Job Description

The Staff Accountant is an integral part of the Finance team to provide accounting and revenue validation support to the Hospital Financial Risk Pool Analyst, Hospital Financial Analyst Supervisor and Lead, Senior Finance Manager, VP of Finance Corporate Controller, and CFO. Responsible for working with the timely and accurate monthly accounting close functions, balance sheet and revenue file preparation & reconciliations and annual audit process. Assist in reviewing, reconciling, and analyzing data to ensure financial integrity of information reported. Complete additional assignments and projects as required by the Hospital Financial Risk Pool Analyst, Hospital Financial Analyst Supervisor and Lead, Senior Finance Manager, VP of Finance Corporate Controller, and CFO or other administrative team members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

ยท Perform daily cash management duties (updating Cash Flows, uploading and decisioning Positive Pay)

ยท Perform monthly accounting close procedures (including, but not limited to, preparing bank reconciliations, month-end Journal Entries, payment imports, etc.) and balance sheet reconciliations

ยท Maintain balance sheet schedules

ยท Compile deposit supporting documents, prepare for Financial Analyst summary then assign GL codes for posting

ยท Process Capitation Revenue Files along with other cash receipts, then assigning G/L codes for posting

ยท Provide data validation across several platforms, validating Claims Detail, Power BI, Bank activities, High costs in EZ Cap

ยท Run and compile various monthly Claims Payments and Claims Payable reports

ยท Maintain various sub-schedules to be used by Financial Analyst to prepare Financial Performance summaries by Health Plan, Line of Business, Aide Codes.

ยท Maintain schedules and back-ups for year-end and mid-year audits

ยท Research and match open authorization to claims expense details

ยท Provide support to the Hospital Analysts by performing additional duties and prepare ad-hoc reports as need

Minimum Job Requirements:

ยท Bachelorย’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.

ยท 2+ years of Physician Organization or Health Plan, Hospital Finance and/or Health Plan experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

ยท Demonstrates strong understanding and experience using Excel (Pivot tables, vlookup, hlookup), Power Point, MS Access and other Microsoft Office Systems required.

ยท Knowledge of MAS200, EZ-Cap a plus.
ย• Must have extensive experience with accounting close procedures and general ledger reconciliation
ย• Must be highly analytical and possess a strong grasp of finance concepts as financial statement analysis.

ยท Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, work accurately, meet deadlines and provide effective reporting is required.

ยท Must be able to plan, coordinate and prioritize resources.

ยท Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Must be able to learn unfamiliar concepts quickly.

ยท Detail-oriented, excellent proof reading and editing skills.

ยท Maintains information in a confidential manner and complies with HIPAA laws according to policy.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

ยท Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the position.

ยท Work is normally performed in a remote work environment.
