Job Description

Minnesota Children's Museum is dedicated to sparking children's learning through play, and they are seeking a Staff Accountant II to assist the Director of Finance and Technology with maintaining accurate financial records. The role involves managing payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and supporting financial reporting and audits.


Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll including bonuses, garnishments, PTO payouts, etc
  • Troubleshoot payroll related issues such as incorrect timesheet feeds, etc
  • Prepare payroll and benefits journal entries and allocations
  • Year-end verification of W-2 s
  • Prepare and submit quarterly sales tax reports
  • Manage pledge, grant, and program fee reporting and invoicing processes
  • Reconcile revenue between Salesforce, Galaxy POS and the accounting system
  • Provide backup to Accounts Payable and Receivable Accountant
  • Manage monthly bank and investment reconciliations
  • Manage all balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end reports (balance sheets, income statements) and ad-hoc reports as requested
  • Assist with maintaining, updating, and implementing accounting related software systems
  • Assist with annual budget and ongoing forecasting
  • Assist with annual external audit
  • Assist with 990 preparation
  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills

  • Assist the Director of Finance and Technology with the recording and maintenance of accounting information
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and clarity of financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles for non-profit entities
