The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is committed to serving local communities through various outreach programs. The Staff Accountant - Payroll is responsible for maintaining payroll accuracy for over 500 employees and ensuring timely processing and reporting of payroll activities. Responsibilities Record payroll activities through accurate journal entries, reconcile payroll ledger accounts monthly and promptly research and resolve any reconciliation discrepancies (35%) Prepare various additional information and perform calculations, such as pension billing, fringe benefit values, worker’s compensation wage reports, and audit reports. (35%) Process payroll with precision and promptness (25%) Serve as a liaison between the field and employees, collaborating closely with Human Resources on employee-related matters (5%) Skills Associate's degree in accounting Previous payroll and accounting experience Pass background checks Valid driver's license and meet MVR driver's qualifications Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Excel Excellent organization skills and attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and communication skills High level of honor in dealing with confidential information Works with integrity, valuing honesty and diligence Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, Adobe, General Ledgers, and standard office equipment Must be able to communicate clearly in English Valid driver's license and meet MVR driver's qualifications preferred Company Overview Our organization is made up of thousands of officers, soldiers, adherents, employees, volunteers and other individuals all working together to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people, as well as struggling to meet the physical needs of those less fortunate.
