The Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI) serves the Governor and his Cabinet as staff for long-range planning and research and constitutes the comprehensive state planning agency. LCI assists the Governor and the Administration in planning, research, policy development, and legislative analysis. The Governor's Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI) is seeking to hire two student assistants.

The Student Assistants (SA) will provide focused, short-term support to the State Clearinghouse (SCH). This role is to support internal organizational efforts with existing staff responsibilities. The Project & Operations Assistant will work closely with team leads to clean up and optimize operations management workflows, improve tracking of deliverables, and provide meeting support by taking notes and capturing action items. This role also includes basic administrative tasks that reinforce SCH’s operational efficiency, ensuring full-time staff remain focused on specialized and high-priority duties.

The SA is expected to perform these duties with speed and accuracy, maintaining high standards in line with established performance benchmarks. This role involves supporting stakeholders, participating in special projects, and contributing to a collaborative team environment. The SA will also apply Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance knowledge, as needed, to support process improvements and efficiency. Conditions of Employment

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position.

Prerequisites Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list. Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting. Majors/Fields of Study Business administration, Computer science, Business analytics, Government, Data analytics, Research, Communication Work Schedule F lexible workdays and work hours, Monday – Friday, between 8 AM – 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Additional Work Schedule Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).

Compensation $18.27 - $24.62 per hour Minimum Qualifications • Experience with bolthires Windows, Word, and Excel. • Ability to work in a team environment and provide excellent customer service. • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Commission staff. • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. • Able to maintain consistent attendance.Able to operate standard office equipment. Preferred Qualifications Individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority.

Duties and Responsibilities • Assist with file organization, version control, naming conventions, and project structures with but not limited to: Asana, SharePoint, and shared drives. • Assist in the development and refinement of project templates to enhance team workflows. • Support staff in transitioning to improved task-tracking practices through basic guidance or one-on-one help.

• Assist with, but not limited to, testing of applications, writing user stories and requirements, and analyzing and reviewing for data quality assurance and accessibility. • Perform clerical tasks such as but not limited to scheduling coordination and communication support.Assist the SCH in building effective relationships with government agencies, their consultants, as well as the public. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions Work is performed in an hybrid environment. Students/Employees will be required to work according to the current UEI remote workplace policy and sign a UEI Work from Home Agreement. The decision to permit an employee to work from home is at the discretion of the supervisor or employer and may, at any time and with or without cause, unilaterally terminate the option to work from home.
