About the position
The Supervising Transportation Planner is a full supervisory role responsible for planning, organizing, and directing subordinate staff in the field of transportation and environmental planning. This position acts as a technical expert, providing direction on policy implementation and undertaking complex planning studies and projects. The role requires a high level of independence and judgment, with responsibilities including coordination with various agencies and ensuring the quality of the team's work.
Responsibilities • Plan, organize, and direct subordinate staff in transportation planning activities. • Act as a technical expert in transportation and environmental planning. • Provide direction on the implementation of policies related to transportation planning. • Undertake special planning studies, projects, and programs as assigned. • Coordinate with local, regional, State, and Federal agencies, citizen advisory committees, and elected officials. • Ensure the quality and timeliness of the team's work product.
Requirements • Experience in transportation planning and environmental policy implementation. • Strong leadership and supervisory skills. • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in complex situations. • Excellent communication and coordination skills with various stakeholders. Nice-to-haves • Experience with local, regional, State, and Federal transportation agencies. • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in transportation planning.
