Technical Documentation Manager – Hybrid Role
Trevor Frances Recruitment is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Technical Documentation Manager with experience in electrical and mechanical documentation. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to collaborate across multiple teams while ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance in all technical deliverables.
Position Overview
The Technical Documentation Manager will produce and manage CAD drawings, technical documents, and product information in alignment with ISO standards and internal quality management procedures. This role requires close collaboration with engineers, product managers, technical support, and production teams to maintain consistency and compliance across design outputs.     Responsibilities
  • Develop and revise wiring diagrams, system layouts, mechanical assemblies, and 3D product drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including BOMs, assembly manuals, wiring diagrams, and product data sheets.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with ISO 9001, QMS, and internal standards.
  • Manage design revisions and documentation through Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project leads to verify design accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare technical specifications, procedures, and manuals for production and installation.
  • Support 3D printing activities, including model preparation, prototype validation, and maintenance of additive manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist with the creation and management of BIM objects and Revit files for integration into architectural or engineering models (experience in this area is a plus).
  • Conduct occasional on-site measurements, inspections, or reviews (including travel to Toronto 1–4 times per year).
  • Record and report work activities using the company’s time tracking system.
    Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in drafting, design, or technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with ISO standards, QMS procedures, and PLM tools.
  • Strong technical writing and document control skills.
  • Knowledge of 3D printing processes and technologies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
    Nice-to-haves
  • Experience with BIM/Revit files is considered an asset.
