Job Description
Providing skilled nursing care in a dynamic medical telemetry setting requires acute clinical knowledge and adaptability. This role emphasizes providing high-quality care to patients diagnosed with a variety of acute and chronic conditions, including sepsis, COPD, cellulitis, and postoperative surgical cases such as orthopedic and general surgeries.

- Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to med-telemetry patients, maintaining a patient ratio of 5:1 during day shifts and 6:1 during nights.
- Collaborate effectively within a team nursing model alongside LPNs and nurse aides.
- Manage nursing care plans tailored to conditions such as pacemaker care, urinary tract infections, COPD exacerbations, and postoperative interventions including TURPS-CBI.
- Skillfully perform IV starts independently, adapting to limited onsite resources.
- Participate in a rotating weekend and holiday schedule, with potential for on-call and standby duties.
- Flexibly float to similar units and patient populations as needed.
- Complete thorough orientation including computer education and clinical shadowing to ensure seamless integration.
- Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Registered Nurse licensed to practice in MI with at least 1 year of progressive med-surg/telemetry experience in acute care.
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Experience or familiarity with critical access hospitals or trauma level 3/4 facilities is desirable.
- Comfort and competence with telemetry monitoring and arrhythmia recognition.
- Ability to serve as a relief charge nurse considered a plus.
- Schedule & Shift Details
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM & 7:00 PM–7:00 AM.
- Weekend rotation every other weekend including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- Holiday coverage required for approximately 2 out of 3 holidays.
- Efforts made to accommodate self-scheduling and longer blocks of shifts.
Additional Information
This opportunity is a contract role with local candidates preferred within an 80-mile radius. Previous employment with the associated medical system requires a minimum 6-month separation before reapplying. Professional dress code is solid-colored and professional; scrubs color not specified.
