Job Description

Achievement Network (ANet) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping all students achieve strong educational outcomes. The Temporary Instructional Content Writer, Compass will create high-quality, standards-aligned formative products for teachers and students in ANet partner schools, focusing on content development and design for ANet’s Compass product.


Responsibilities

  • Create ANet assessment content and supporting materials aligned with content standards
  • Develop instructional support materials:
  • Research and analyze curriculum and content standards examples from states and external organizations
  • Review historical distractor data to identify common misconceptions for each standard or part of standard
  • Create aligned resources for common misconceptions, such as visual examples of student work that illuminates a misconception, or a narrative explaining a common misconception, its root causes, and possible solutions
  • Use feedback on resources to iterate and improve created materials
  • Additional duties may include:
  • Writing math assessment items aligned to standards, including but not limited to traditional and technology-enhanced item types
  • Addressing feedback on assessment item content from multiple stakeholders in order to revise

Skills

  • Solid understanding of mathematics state instructional standards, including Common Core State Standards
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly in a variety of work settings, including internal/external meetings and presentations, using language that is relatable to stakeholders
  • Ability to create mathematical visuals that are clear and easy to understand
  • Ability to organize workstreams and take initiative to get assignments completed
  • Work effectively under deadlines and fast-paced work
  • Be able to incorporate input from teams or external sources, including educators
  • Ability to recognize needed data and understand how it impacts decisions in the work or role
  • Flexibility to learn and adapt to new technology to support the efficiency or delivery of work
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Prior instructional teaching experience in mathematics, with preference in grade 2-8
  • Working knowledge of strong instructional practice in mathematics and assessment design principles, with preference in grade 2-8
