The Billing Manager is responsible for the oversight of the insurance department including all aspects of billing, posting, collections, employee management, refunds, verifications, pre-certifications, and referrals while adhering to existing contracts, policies or regulations.
Responsibilities
รย Examine billing systems to ensure their accuracy through routine audits
รย Ensure claims are correctly submitted and denials are appealed and resubmitted within the timeframe for filing consideration
รย Manage the investigation and resolution of billing discrepancies and errors
รย Supervise billing and collections processes to guarantee optimization in work-flow
รย Review unpaid patient balances and establish payment arrangements
รย Follow-up on overdue accounts and secure payments
รย Prepare bi-monthly charges report for clinic
รย Manage accounts receivable reports
รย Respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to medical billing tasks
รย Support co-workers with billing, insurance or account inquiries and provide assistance
รย Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
รย Respond and assist with physician coding questions
รย Act as a liaison between practice, physicians, staff, patients, and billing office
รย Conduct routine staff meetings to review team performance and communicate department initiatives and expectations
รย Primary contact for addressing patient billing complaints
รย Execute duties of position in a professional and courteous manner
รย Perform additional tasks as directed
Qualifications
รย 5 years of RCM, medical collections, claims processing, and/or AR experience is required with at least 2 of those years of experience in a management/supervisory capacity.
รย Medical billing experience must include Medicare, managed care and commercial insurance carriers
รย High school diploma is required
รย Undergraduate Degree preferred
รย Experience in ophthalmology billing is required and NextGen experience is preferred
