Job Description
- Carteret Community College is accepting applications for a part-time temporary Veterinary Assistant Instructor. Applications will be accepted until position is filled. - Prepare course materials, including syllabus, curriculum, lectures, hands-on activities, and assessments aligned with program objectives.
- Instruct students on the role, duties, and responsibilities of a veterinary assistant in both classroom and laboratory settings.
- Compile bibliographies of specialized materials or assign outside readings to enhance student learning.
- Construct, administer, and grade examinations, quizzes, assignments, and other assessments.
- Maintain all required College records, including attendance, grade reports, and roll books in accordance with College policies.
- Make recommendations to the Department Chair regarding supplies, equipment needs, and repairs to ensure an effective learning environment.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement, participation, and success.
- Stay current with institutional policies, procedures, and program guidelines, and adhere to all College policies
- EDUCATION:
- Relevant degree or credential in veterinary technology, veterinary assisting, or a related field (associate's degree or higher preferred).
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience as a veterinary assistant, technician, or in a similar role
- KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
- Prior teaching or training experience preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student success and ability to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learning need
- LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
- Veterinary Assistant Certification or Veterinary Tech Diploma
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires prolonged standing and ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted.
