Position: Payroll Tax & Compliance Specialist Location: Remote (US Based) Compensation : The salary range for this position is expected to be between $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year, depending on geographic location, experience, internal equity and other qualifications of the successful candidate Employment Type: Full-time / Exempt Position Summary: The Payroll Tax Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of all payroll tax obligations at the federal, state, and local levels. This role works closely with Payroll, HR, and Finance to maintain compliance with ever-changing tax regulations and resolve tax-related discrepancies. Responsibilities & Expectations: Process and reconcile federal, state, and local payroll tax filings (941, 940, W-2s, etc.) Ensure timely payroll tax deposits and payments in accordance with regulatory deadlines Respond to tax agency notices and resolve discrepancies Maintain and update employee tax withholding records Conduct audits and reconciliations of payroll tax accounts Stay current on changes to payroll tax laws and regulations Partner with HR and Finance on year-end processing (W-2s, ACA reporting, etc.) Support system implementations and updates related to tax compliance (e.g., ADP, Workday, Ceridian) Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external audits Work Environment and Physical Demands Professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to, computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to engage in professional and interpersonal written and verbal communications with a wide variety of individuals including, employees, customers, vendors, managers and others. In accordance with the requirements of a typical office work environment, the employee will be required to attend meetings in person and/or by phone/video conferencing, use keyboards, keypads, dial pads etc., Some overhead reaching, bending and twisting, as per usual office environment and functions. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Minimum Requirements: 2+ years of payroll tax experience Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax regulations Strong Excel skills and attention to detail It would be great if you had these: Experience with payroll systems (ADP, Workday, Paycom, Avionte or similar) Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification a plus Other Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
