Remote in North Dakota - Fiscal Compliance OfficerNorth Dakota Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Fiscal Compliance Officer to ensure taxpayer dollars are used appropriately. This person will play a critical role in safeguarding public funds while making sure the agency is compliant with state & federal regulations.As the Fiscal Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for reviewing closing packages to ensure all required documents are complete and accurate, including bank statements, bolthires estimates, account reconciliations, amortization schedules, and other financial reports.
Through these reviews, you will help strengthen operational efficiency by identifying gaps, recommending improvements, and supporting audit readiness. You will also act as a liaison between external auditors and department leaders to verify that programs comply with state and federal regulations and to help implement corrective action plans when discrepancies arise. Most importantly, your work will play a critical role in identifying and minimizing risk for the agency.To thrive in this position, you should bring strong communication skills, solid financial knowledge, and a proactive, solutions-driven mindset.

This position is based in North Dakota. The candidate selected must reside in North Dakota, or bordering communities, or be willing to relocate to the state. If not located in the Bismarck area, the candidate will need to travel to Bismarck periodically.
