The Associate Director | Financial Controller will drive effective financial management and advisory support for the business unit, collaborating with project managers and leading a team to ensure excellence in financial decision-making and project performance. Responsibilities • Collaborating with Project Managers to help drive project performance and ensure that high quality financial decisions are made on the project • Providing objective financial advice and opinions that positively impact the future of the project and associated plan • Providing objective challenge regarding spend plans and take a proactive role in looking for opportunities to deliver services more efficiently and effectively • Investigating opportunities as well as high risk and material financial issues, or problem areas, on the projects • Developing and proposing solutions and options to resolve/progress concerns to a satisfactory outcome • Managing a large team (or several) of senior direct reports, demonstrating effective leadership to ensure excellence in delivery against plans, championing a continuous improvement culture throughout all activities • Working closely with the commercial team to provide forward looking insight and challenge, adding demonstrable value through delivering business insight • Influencing and challenging financial plans, supporting the production of financial budgets, forecasts and analysis and acting as a critical adviser on key financial decisions • Reviewing financial performance information and plans, (prepared by the Project Manager) including the Financial Plan, budgeting and forecasting, to ensure they are robust and accurately reflect key project issues • Ensuring good bolthires control and bolthires management behaviour on projects.
Promote good financial disciplines and risk management processes • Ensuring a robust and effective internal control framework and compliance environment exists across the project and addresses risk management processes • Ensuring accounting processes on projects (billing, management of revenue and capitalisation of projects) are disciplined and effective • Working collaboratively with members of the Finance Business Partner community (across other business units) to promote and share business partnering ideas, learnings, experiences and best practice • Developing an effective relationship with key staff in the Oracle support centre • Working collaboratively with the super users and support the development of an effective network • Supporting the set-up of projects and tasks structures so that the appropriate management information can be extracted • Acting as a positive representative for finance with business stakeholders • Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work • Delivering performance management, technical development, direction and coaching • Managing the implementation of a systematic performance improvement cycle to continually improve the quality of (i.e.
