The Underwriter I position involves underwriting SDI and related products for general contractors, requiring strong communication and negotiation skills to build relationships within the industry. Responsibilities Marketing to producers to secure new and renewal business Reviewing of applications, terms and conditions, statement of values, loss history, price modeling, conducting appropriate research and working with SDI team colleagues to determine the degree of risk for each account based upon company SDI Regulations, Guidelines and underwriting authority granted Coordinating with varied business divisions including Risk Engineering, Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Marketing, Regulatory and others internally that support our businesses Creating creative risk transfer solutions to unique customersโ€™ needs while safeguarding AXA XLโ€™s bottom line Skillful, decisive and selective underwriting Maintaining a profitable portfolio of accounts Cross-selling with other groups at AXA XL to drive greater product density Various other duties in support of AXA XLโ€™s the SDI product

Your focus is to establish robust relationship internally and externally and to act as the critical interface between the broker and clients and the company.

You are expected to continuously contribute to improve current working and underwriting practices Other opportunities within the Construction Business Unit We work collaboratively across lines and in support of our General Contractor partners. You will have opportunities to work on projects and in groups that move the construction industry forward Skills Bachelor's degree or equivalent Some Construction underwriting experience (SDI, Property, Casualty or Construction Surety preferred) Robust analytical and problem-solving skills as well as outstanding sales and marketing abilities Ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with senior personnel, brokers and clients Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required Outstanding computer skills (MS Office) are critical for the success of this position
