As compliance manager for Progressive Life, you will play a critical role in shaping the next phase of our growth by leading the team responsible for regulatory and compliance oversight of Progressive’s life insurance company. Progressive Life, developed and launched within Level20, our business incubator, now operates independently as we expand into new markets.
In this role, you will oversee state-level product and marketing compliance, manage licensing and product filings, coordinate directly with regulators, and translate evolving regulations into clear, actionable business requirements. You will also have the unique opportunity to build a compliance function from the ground up, designing the processes, policies, and structures that will enable Progressive Life to scale with confidence and integrity. This is a hybrid role in downtown Cleveland, OH (Office Location: 800 W St Clair Ave STE 200, Cleveland, OH 44113) with free parking.
Work-from-home days are possible for this position (Monday and Friday). • If you live within 45 miles: this will be a hybrid role. You’ll work in our office location Tuesday – Thursday and you’ll have the option to work remotely Monday and Friday. • If you live more than 45 miles away: this will be a hybrid role. You may work remotely except you’ll work in our office location every 4-6 weeks, Tuesday – Thursday. You may travel on Monday and Friday as necessary. Must-have qualifications • A minimum of 8 years of insurance compliance experience, including at least 3 years in life insurance and 2 years in a leadership role (e.g., leading people, cross-functional teams, or project) • {OR} Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field of study and a minimum of 5 years of insurance compliance experience, including at least 3 years in life insurance and 2 years in a leadership role (e.g., leading people, cross-functional teams, or project) Preferred skills • Experience in life insurance compliance, including state level regulatory requirements, product filings, and licensing processes • Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into product requirements, system updates, or audit procedures • Experience with marketing and distribution strategies with exposure to product design considerations • Collaborative working style with the ability to partner closely with internal teams to implement compliance requirements effectively • Comfortable operating in an ambiguous environment and building new processes, policies, and structure from the ground up
