About the position
At Doncasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Plant Manufacturing Engineer
to join our team in Long Beach, CA.
The Plant Manufacturing Engineer is a major contributor to the success of the
Manufacturing facility and is responsible for discovering opportunities to
improve productivity and implement sustainable solutions. This role requires an
individual with a strong “find it and fix it” mentality who is driven by a
desire to work with cross-functional teams to solve challenging problems and
implement modern solutions in a mature facility. This is a hybrid role and
requires a dynamic engineer who can serve as Manufacturing Engineer, Process
Engineer, and Continuous Improvement Engineer.
The salary range is between $100,000-$130,000 annually.

The Role:
The successful candidate will have experience utilizing CAD for facility
layouts, modeling existing systems with expected improvements, and working with
vendors / EPCs to integrate products / solutions. In addition, the ideal
candidate has demonstrated experience managing projects that deliver promised
results on time and on budget. In this role you will work with a ~$3M CapEx
budget and $1M turn-around budget to support improvements across the facility.
The Plant / Manufacturing Engineer will view the Operations team as their
customer to support production needs with a mindset of making overall operations
a little better every day!

- Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, manufacturing or process background preferred
- Proven experience implementing solutions for a production facility (>5 years preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams through indirect leadership
- Must be available for irregular hours depending on project needs
- Must be willing to travel up to 10% based on business need
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Extensive experience utilizing LEAN / Six Sigma to discover problems and implement solutions
- Prefers hands-on work and does not hesitate to run toward problems
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems
- Proficiency in CAD software for facility layouts and tools for modeling process systems
- Proficient in capital project management and budgeting processes
- Experience with automation and modern PLC control systems
- Degree in relevant engineering and experience working within a metallurgy environment; ideally within aerospace.
- We are keen to hear from individuals who have knowledge of investment casting technology, processes and manufacturing methods, based upon 5 years minimum experience in the engineering, manufacture and/or application of investment castings.
- Nice-to-haves
- Preferred experience with vacuum induction furnaces in the manufacturing of superalloys
- Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g. Registered Engineer, PMP, Six Sigma, Lean)
- Experience with world class manufacturing process, and methods, Lean, Kaizen, 6s, TMP (talent management program), and other advance manufacturing methodologies, tools and concepts would be a plus.
