The Director of Solutions Engineering will lead a pre-sales engineering team, collaborating with various departments to enhance technical sales strategies and ensure customer success. Responsibilities β’ Lead, develop, and inspire a team of Solutions Engineers, ensuring professional growth and high performance β’ Partner with the Sales organization to drive technical closure, guiding solution validation and evaluation to achieve customer success and sales goals β’ Establish repeatable processes for discovery, solution design, and proof validation that highlight Dockerβs differentiated value β’ Collaborate with Product and Engineering to share the Voice of the Customer, influencing roadmap and prioritization β’ Develop and execute enablement programs that enhance the technical selling capabilities of both SEs and Sales β’ Create an environment of continuous improvement focused on customer outcomes, operational excellence, and innovation β’ Work closely with sales leadership to define metrics, performance standards, and success measures for technical sales excellence β’ Coach, mentor, and empower your team to engage effectively with enterprise-level customers and communicate complex technical concepts clearly Skills β’ 10+ years of experience leading technical sales or pre-sales teams for distributed systems or developer platforms β’ Proven success in guiding teams that support technologies for software supply chain security, security governance, or developer productivity β’ Minimum of 5 years in management, including hiring, mentoring, and scaling high-performing teams β’ Deep understanding of containerization, cloud-native architectures, and developer tools β’ Strong communication and executive presentation skills, with the ability to build trust across technical and business audiences β’ Operational experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar container-based platforms β’ Familiarity with bolthires/CD pipelines, cloud-native applications, and at least one major cloud provider β’ Background in software development or scripting β’ Experience enabling developer productivity through coding assistants, AI integrations, or AI agent development β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience) β’ Willingness to travel to support key customer engagements Benefits β’ Freedom & flexibility; fit your work around your life β’ Designated quarterly Whaleness Days β’ Home office setup; we want you comfortable while you work β’ 16 weeks of paid Parental leave β’ Technology stipend equivalent to $100 net/month β’ PTO plan that encourages you to take time to do the things you enjoy β’ Quarterly, company-wide hackathons β’ Training stipend for conferences, courses and classes β’ Equity; we are a growing start-up and want all employees to have a share in the success of the company β’ Docker Swag β’ Medical benefits, retirement and holidays vary by country Company Overview β’ At Docker, we simplify the lives of developers who are making world-changing apps.
